I am going to avoid naming any of my past mat brands, but I am going to say that some of their biggest faux pas have really done me a favor. They have turned me into a HUGE mat snob. Which in the yoga mat world is a good thing. There is nothing worse than getting atop that mat and it having major issues. Have you ever had major mat issues?? Familiar with any of these? Sheddy mat, stinky mat, slippery mat, heavy mat, light mat, wrinkly mat, rolly mat, chemically mat, ugly mat, linty mat, dirty mat and peely mat. The worst mat that I ever had embodied most all of these qualities! It was the mat that I took down to St.Thomas with me and it was the most expensive mat that I have ever had, but quickly got tossed. I was so mad that when sweaty the material stung my face, peeled off on my body and clothes, stunk like chemicals (even though it was "eco friendly") and wouldn't stay put.
With all that being said, I was sent a Barefoot yoga mat to try out a couple of weeks ago and have been having success! It is cute, doesn't stink, stays put and is lightweight. The other thing that I love is that it is a pretty cheap mat, as far as mats go. It lays flat right away, stays put and offers a good sticky surface.
This is what they have to say about their mats...
Our signature Hybrid mats combine the best of eco-friendly and traditional mats. They are better for the environment and your health than traditional PVC mats with long lasting performance. The mesh scrim (the "skeleton" of the mat) is made from 100% recycled polyester, which contributes to its longevity and strength.
Our Hybrid Mats do not contain phthalates or heavy metals, and the method of production is completely non-toxic and latex free.
I was sent the Barefoot Hybrid Eco Mat in Walnut, which I love!
